Description
Honda invested significant resources into designing the NSX’s brake system, ensuring exceptional performance. The NSX-R, in particular, benefited from this comprehensive design, with no changes needed for its braking system. However, in 1997, Honda introduced larger, slotted rotors and calipers to further enhance braking performance. These rotors, which are sold in sets of two, can be retrofitted to earlier models for improved stopping power.
It’s crucial to replace brake rotors on a Honda NSX when they become worn or damaged. Over time, rotors can experience reduced effectiveness, leading to decreased braking performance and increased stopping distances. This can be dangerous in emergency braking situations. Additionally, worn rotors can cause damage to other braking system components, resulting in higher maintenance costs. Regularly replacing brake rotors ensures optimal braking performance and vehicle safety.
NA1 owners looking to upgrade to NA2 brakes will need to replace both rotors and calipers. Note that NA1 calipers are not compatible with NA2 rotors.
