Description
Honda invested significant resources into designing the NSX’s brake system, ensuring exceptional performance. The NSX-R, in particular, benefited from this comprehensive design, with no changes needed for its braking system. However, in 1997, Honda introduced upgraded brake calipers to enhance braking performance. From 2002 to 2005, the brake calipers were updated to gold, while the 2002 NSX-R retained the standard black calipers.
Each brake caliper set is sold with all four calipers: two front and two rear. These sets can be retrofitted to earlier models to improve stopping power.
It is crucial to replace brake calipers on a Honda NSX if they become worn or damaged. Over time, calipers can degrade, leading to reduced braking performance and increased stopping distances. This can be dangerous, especially during emergency braking situations. Additionally, worn calipers can cause damage to other braking system components, resulting in higher maintenance costs. Regularly replacing brake calipers ensures optimal braking performance and vehicle safety.
NA1 owners looking to upgrade to the later brake system will need to replace both calipers and rotors. Note that NA1 calipers are not compatible with later rotors.
