The purpose of replacing the lost motion assembly (LMA) in a Honda / Acura NSX is to improve the performance of the engine’s valve train. When the LMA wears out, it can cause a number of problems, including:

Honda have now designed later-style LMAs for 1991-1999 engines for better initial response and longer longevity.
The revised LMAs are applicable for NSXs between 1991-2005
